We’re still in the NFL playoffs, with the championship round weekend kicking off on Sunday. That means it’s time once again for our weekly look at the point spreads in order to help you win some money.
A parlay is just a fancy term for a bet that involves more than one team. A teaser is a parlay that allows bettors to adjust the spread in their favor in exchange for a smaller potential payout. Both of these are common when betting against the spread. Be cautious as to how many teams you include in one bet. The most popular way to bet on the NFL is against the spread (ATS). With these wagers, you are not picking a simple winner or loser of a game. Instead, ATS betting is placing your money that Team A wins by a certain amount of points (Philadelphia -7 for example) or that Team B will keep the game closer than oddsmakers expect (Chicago +3.5).
In the postseason, Steven Ruiz went 0-4 last week (2-8 overall), Charles McDonald went 0-4 (4-6 overall) and Charles Curtis went 2-2 (4-6 overall).
We now go to each of them for comments.
Charles C: BOOM. Two wins! Big momentum heading into Sunday.
Steven: Good lord. OH. AND. FOUR. What are we even doing here? Just do the opposite of what I say.
Charles M: That wasn’t me, I was hacked.
(All bets courtesy of BetMGM) Buccaneers at Packers (-3.5)
Charles C: Buccaneers
This is definitely not me buying into what happened in Week 6 — when the Bucs destroyed the Packers in Tampa 38-10 — but rather a feeling that this game is just going to be super close. Tampa’s defense played super well against the Saints (or was that Drew Brees not playing well?) and the offense did just enough for the win. I do think the Packers emerge with a win here with Aaron Rodgers doing Aaron Rodgers things … but I can’t bet against Tom Brady to at least cover here.
Steven: Packers
This would have been a lot harder to pick if Tom Brady hadn’t looked so shaky last week in New Orleans. After re-watching the Week 6 game, I’m confident that Rodgers’ rough day was mostly a fluke and he’ll be a lot better this time around. And I trust Matt LaFleur to make the necessary adjustments to make the run game more effectively. If it is a high scoring affair, I trust Rodgers more than a 43-year-old Brady.
Charles M: Packers How does sport betting work.
This Packers team is on a roll right now and a much better squad right now than they were the first time they played Tampa Bay. Rodgers is rolling. Bills at Chiefs (-3)
Charles C: Chiefs
We’re writing this uncertain as to what Patrick Mahomes’ status is. But I’ll assume, as this spread does, that he plays and wins by four. The Bills come in having played the game of the season with a statement win over the Ravens. I just don’t think they can do it twice in two weeks. I worry about the Chiefs’ secondary keeping Stefon Diggs in check, but this pick is more about what I can see Mahomes doing. Apologies to the Bills Mafia, please don’t throw me through a table.
Steven: Chiefs
It’s looking like Mahomes will play, so there’s really no need to worry about the Chiefs offense in this one. Mybookie app for iphone. And Kansas City’s defense was one of the few that was able to really shut down this explosive Bills passing game. Josh Allen had fewer than 150 yards passing and the run game was held to only 87 yards. If the Chiefs come anywhere close to matching that performance, they’ll win easily.
Charles M: ChiefsNfl Record Against The Spread
If Mahomes is healthy, I just don’t really see how Kansas City loses. They were about to light up Cleveland’s defense before Mahomes got hurt and the Bills don’t exactly have a powerhouse defense this year. If Kansas City’s defense steps up to the challenge they should win easily.
